The annual Startup Summit organised by DP Information Group, a Singapore’s leading credit reference agency, is back! With the theme “Powering Possibilities”, this year’s conference focuses primarily on internationalisation and digitalisation. One of the topics include the growing crowdfunding scene in the region.

While US-based crowdfunding platforms such as Kickstarter and Indiegogo have proved to be an important funding alternative to the traditional financial institution, the concept is still relatively foreign in Asia. Singapore as the leading financial hub in the region, has taken steps in strengthening the regulatory in this sector after observing significant growth with more than 10 crowdfunding platforms launched till date.

Being one of the first P2P lending platforms to receive the CMS license from MAS, the CEO and co-founder of Crowd Genie, Mr. Akshay Mehra, is honored to be invited as a speaker to the 9th Startup Summit to share his knowledge and experience.

Here’s what Mr. Akshay has in mind on the crowdfunding market: “the key upside is that crowdfunding can provide an avenue for capital for companies that the banks cannot, or do not want to meet; while investors can get access to significantly higher yields, more conveniently”.

If you are attending the event, we look forward to meeting you for a fruitful discussion!
